NAAAP PHILADELPHIA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2012

The National Association of Asian American Professionals Philadelphia Chapter (NAAAP Philadelphia) is proud to announce the 2012 scholarship program that benefits graduating high school seniors and current college students who are Asian/Asian American. The high school and college students will be selected within their respective pools to receive between $1,000 to $2,000 in scholarship money, to be used toward tuition, books, and/or living expenses. A total of four to six winners will be chosen.
 
About NAAAP Philadelphia:  A non-profit, 501(c)(3), all-volunteer, Pan-Asian American professional organization that promotes the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals across a wide variety of fields and industries. As part of a national organization, NAAAP is the largest and fastest growing Asian American professional organization in the United States and Canada.
 
Scholarship Mission: NAAAP Philadelphia strives to cultivate and develop the leaders of tomorrow. The mission of the NAAAP Philadelphia scholarship is to recognize and reward deserving Asian and Asian American students in the Philadelphia area with high leadership potential who are or will be pursuing a college education.
 
Requirements:
  • Application and the 2 essays
  • 2 letters of recommendation from professors/counselors/advisors/managers; must not be related to applicant (see below)
  • Official Transcripts 
  • Asian American or of Asian descent
  • Current resume
  • For high school seniors, must currently attend a Delaware Valley high school.  High school cumulative GPA 3.0 of higher
    • Note: Student does not need to plan to attend a Philadelphia college. Student only needs to be currently attending a high school in one of the counties designated above.
  • For college students, must be currently attending a Delaware Valley (defined below) accredited college or university and still have at least one year of college remaining in the 2012-13 school year.  Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Delaware Valley includes the following counties:
    • Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, and Bucks
    • Southern New Jersey: Camden and Atlantic County
    • Delaware: New Castle County

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation:

Letters of recommendation must be emailed to NAAAP Philadelphia and must originate from the recommender's business or school email address.  Recommender needs to include contact information and relationship to student on the letter.  NAAAP Philadelphia reserves the right to contact references for verification.  Please ask your recommender to use the template attached below. 

Scholarship Application Deadline: April 1, 2012 (midnight)
Interview Conducted: late-April to mid-May
Winners Announced: June 1, 2012

NAAAP Philadelphia collects and uses Users personal information for the following purposes:

    We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.

    We continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.
- To improve customer service
    Your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs.
- To send periodic emails
The email address Users provide will only be used to respond to their inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.We may use third party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission.

Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties.
